Welcome to the Erasmus Mundus MSc Course in MathMods - Mathematical Modelling in Engineering: Theory, Numerics, Applications.
MathMods is coordinated by the University of L'Aquila in Italy and involves other four leading universities in Europe: the Autonomous University of Barcelona in Catalonia - Spain (UAB), the University of Hamburg in Germany (UHH), the Gdansk University of Technology in Poland (GUT) and the University of Nice - Sophia Antipolis in France (UNSA).
What is Erasmus Mundus?
Erasmus Mundus is a co-operation and mobility programme in the field of higher education which promotes the European Union as a worldwide centre of excellence in learning. The programme supports European top-quality master’s courses and enhances the visibility and attractiveness of European higher education in third countries, providing EU-funded scholarships.
What is the MathMods Programme?
MathMods is a two-year Master of Science (MSc) programme (120 ECTS) within 5 European universities, providing students with a cross cultural education while getting acquainted with both theory and applications of mathematical modelling in engineering.
At present UAQ counts over 23,000 students, around 650 teachers and researchers, and nearly 500 administrative and technical staff members. Officially established in 1459, UAQ has now nine Faculties, most notably Sciences, Medicine, Engineering, Economics and Biotechnologies, which all offer a wide range of Bachelor, Master and PhD programmes. Internationalisation has played an increasingly important role at UAQ.

The Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona (UAB) is a generalist campus-based University, hosting 43,000 students. The university was selected among the top five universities to be recognized as a Campus of International Excellence by the Spanish government. The UAB's commitment to internationalisation is reflected in its satellite offices in Shanghai and Korea as well as agreements with many international universities facilitating exchanges and joint projects for students and researchers.

The Gdansk University of Technology (GUT) is the largest technical university in the Pomeranian Region and one of the oldest technical universities in Poland. The first inauguration of the academic year took place in 1904. The University was created in Gdańsk, a city with over 1000 years of history and the largest maritime, cultural and scientific centre in Northern Poland. GUT employs over 2500 staff members, including more than 1200 academic teachers (including 120 full professors).

With about 38,000 students, Universität Hamburg is one of Germany's largest universities. Approximately 650 of the 4,100 academic staff are full professors. The School of Mathematics, Informatics and Natural Sciences comprises the departments Biology, Chemistry, Earth Sciences, Informatics, Mathematics and Physics. Today there are about 9500 students (thereof 900 Ph.D students and 3250 teacher trainees).

The University of Nice Sophia-Antipolis (UNS) is a public organization under the administrative authority of France’s Ministry of National Education with two main missions: higher education and research. The UNS is involved in all scientific fields. It is the second multidisciplinary University in France in students number (27000 students including 17% foreign students). The Mathematics Departement together with its research laboratory (Laboratory J.A. Dieudonné, LJAD) belongs to the faculty of sciences of the UNS.
